Jean Michel Schlumberger (1907–1987) was a French jeweller whose imaginative creations helped define 20th-century luxury jewellery design. After working in Europe and being influenced by Surrealism, modern art and the decorative traditions of Asia and the Americas, Schlumberger brought his singular vision to Tiffany & Co. in New York in the early 1950s, where he became one of the house’s most celebrated designers.

Schlumberger’s work is characterised by bold compositions, extraordinary colour combinations, sculptural forms and nature-inspired motifs — from whimsical animals and fantastical flora to abstract interpretations of everyday subjects.
